Going Faster! Weather starts. Former Formula One F1 driver Sebastien Bourdais and his No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda IndyCar was fastest today with a lap of 233.116 mph! It is the fastest time of the month so far. Overall 33, IndyCar entries turned laps today with one second separating Bourdais from the 28th fastest driver. As is customary on Fast Friday and qualifying, the IndyCar drivers had an extra 30 horsepower due to extra turboboost.

After a Friday interrupted twice by rain, we should expect further weather incursions on Saturday and Sunday.

The Andretti Autosport six car armada was led by Ryan Hunter-Reay and his No. 28 Honda with a 232.132 mph lap.

Another Formula One F1 driver Takuma Sato and his No. 26 Honda was third quick. Sato said, "It was a good day. But sometimes an oval speed can be artifical if someone gets a tow."

Two-time Formula One F1 drivers champion Fernando Alonso was once again fourth quick - second consecutive day. Alonso turned 46 total laps.

And rounding out the top five was a Formula One race winner Juan Pablo Montoya and his No. 22. Montoya's lap was 231.682 mph. Adding in Alexander Rossi - 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner - six of the top ten drivers today have had experience in Formula One.

The only incident of the day came at 4:37 PM local time as Juncos Racing's Spencer Pigot slammed the Turn Two barrier. He was uninjured in the accident. Zach Veach also crashed today.

Next up, 2017 Indianapolis 500 qualifying on Saturday & Sunday. On Saturday, the 33 car field will set up two groups - the Fast Nine and those who aren't in the Fast Nine. On Sunday, the Fast nine will get a chance to start from Pole.
