Consistency... Not happening. Will Power and his No. 12 Team Penske Chevrolet was quickest today at 224.656 mph. Power was one of the few drivers to actually turn a quicker lap in the much hotter conditions. While Power was seventh quick yesterday, he was nowhere near the 226.338 mph lap put up by Marco Andretti yesterday. Where was Andretti today ? 25th quick.

Helio Castroneves and his No. 3 Team Penske Chevrolet was 26th quick yesterday, today... second quick. He was over four mph quicker.

Gabby Chaves isn't a household name, but today he put his mark on the field with the third fastest lap of 223.991 mph. Nice work after running 32nd yesterday. He was also running a Chevrolet.

Ryan Hunter-Reay and his No. 28 Andretti Autosport Honda was fourth quick and quickest with Honda power. Ryan Hunter-Reay was fifth quick yesterday.

Sage Karam was fifth on the timesheets, also a Chevrolet, and he was 14th quick yesterday.

So while I bemoaned consistency at the beginning, there was some consistency... Honda dominated yesterday, Chevrolet today. Will Power was generally quick both days, as was Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Keep watching for consistency, and you'll likely find someone with a fast car. As for the inconsistent... they probably have had their time in the sun. Day Three will tell us more.

Noteable issues today: James Hinchcliffe and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports struggled with electrical issues.

Two-time Formula One F1 driver Fernando Alonso went slower today, and was further back in the pack. However, Alonso did turn more laps today than any other driver... 117. Over half a race distance. Those laps will pay off come race day as many of those laps were in and out of traffic.

Next up, practice session three on Wednesday. Expect more long runs from the teams as most work on race setups.
