Firestone Indy Lights is a developmental IndyCar racing series sanctioned by the Indy Racing League. It was founded in 2002 as a way to introduce new talent to the IRL. Graduates of the Firestone Indy Lights program include IndyCar Series Champions: Tony Kanaan, Scott Dixon, AJ Foyt IV, Alex Lloyd, Townsend Bell, and Oriol Servia.

The goals of the Firestone Indy Lights program encompass: strategic balance of oval tracks, road courses, and street circuits to gain television audience and spectator growth and to graduate teams and drivers to the prestigious IndyCar Series. The Indy Lights series offers teams equal access to equipment, engines, and tires.

The test session at Palm Beach International Raceway runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is open to spectators (no admission charge).
