ALMS Debut On The Horizon For Montagny

The anticipation of his American Le Mans Series start is getting to Franck Montagny. The newest member of the Acura and Andretti Green Racing family got his first taste of the AGR Acura ARX-01b on Tuesday, just three days before his debut at Lime Rock Park and the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix.

"The team has made every thing perfect for me," said the 30-year-old Montagny, who will team with American phenom Marco Andretti this weekend. "I am spending a lot of time at the shop meeting all of the crew members. I have been working a lot with Steve Newey, my chief engineer to get prepared to drive the car for the first time."

The 1.51-mile, 10-turn circuit is nothing like the Frenchman has raced around. Well, that's not exactly true. He placed second in the final Champ Car race at Long Beach in April. But for the most part, his career has taken him on longer circuits in Formula 1 - as a driver for Super Aguri and test/reserve driver for Renault and Jordan - as well as other ventures in Europe. The most recent of those was a third-place overall finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Peugeot in its diesel-powered 908.

"Lime Rock is much different from my experience in Europe but I'm sure we will do well," he said. "The team looks very motivated and I'm even more motivated to get the XM/Acura car into victory lane for the first time this season. I'm very excited to meet Marco Andretti, my new teammate. I am very excited to be sharing the car with him at Lime Rock and feel that I can learn a lot from his experience in the American Le Mans Series."
