Kansas: Panther IRL IndyCar Race Preview - Meira Ready For First Win
After a quick turnaround from Japan, Panther Racing and its trio of drivers have traveled to Kansas for a pair of exciting races this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Following this weekend’s activity, Panther will remain at Kansas Speedway on Monday for a day of testing. Firestone Indy Lights driver Brent Sherman and current IndyCar Series driver Vitor Meira will test the No. 4 Delphi National Guard Dallara Honda on the track’s 1.5-mile oval.

Attached below are pre-race quotes from the team’s drivers and a summary of Panther’s IndyCar Series history at the track.
Vitor Meira, No. 4 Delphi National Guard
Vitor Meira:
“I’ve always loved Kansas Speedway. My car seems to always work well on this track and I just look forward to coming here every year. Panther’s cars have always been great here too, I know they’ve been close to winning several times here. Japan didn’t end the way we would have liked, but we’ve been so much better than our results show. We’re looking forward to the weekend, there are lots of our friends from Delphi and the National Guard coming this weekend, so we hope to show them all a good time.”
Dillon Battistini, No. 15 AlexP Firestone Indy Lights
Dillon Battistini:
“I’ve got a good feeling about this weekend in Kansas. It seems like a long time since we had our last race in St. Petersburg, and I’ve been antsy to get back into my racecar. I know the team has done well here in the past and I hope to continue that success. I’ve been excited to get back on an oval since our victory in Homestead to open the season.”
Brent Sherman, No. 16 Best Buddies Firestone Indy Lights
Brent Sherman:
“This is a big weekend for me. It’s great to get back into the Firestone Indy Lights car again on an oval track, but I’m really excited to test the IndyCar on Monday once the races are over. We’ve tested in Indianapolis since our last race, but I feel like we’ve got a great chance to pull off a win this weekend in Kansas.”
