Steve Sampson, Alexi Lalas Take Part in TV Series Exploring US-Mexico Soccer Rivalry


Galaxy President & General Manager Alexi Lalas and Galaxy head coach Steve Sampson took part in the El Reto Final Nissan at The Home Depot Center on May 21.

El Reto Final Nissan is a reality television series currently airing on Fox Sports En Espanol exploring the history of the Mexico-United States soccer rivalry, and Sampson led Lalas and the rest of the 1997 United States National Team against the 1997 Mexican National Team featuring Carlos Hermosillo, Joaquin Del Olmo, Alberto Garcia Aspe, Luis Garcia and Luis Hernandez.

Mexico used two late second half goals to defeat the U.S. 3-1. Lalas played the entire game at central defense for the United States.
