Michael Schumacher Visits German World Cup Team

Countryman Michael Schumacher popped in to wish Germany's World Cup football team all the best as they trained in Switzerland on Monday.

Ferrari's seven time world champion had been invited to lunch with the squad at a Geneva hotel, according to reports, ahead of their first match of the competition early in June.

''It's a nice spot,'' Schumacher, 37 and domiciled in Switzerland, told the German Football Association.

''It's a good place to prepare.''

The German will jet into Monte Carlo, to attempt to beat Ayrton Senna's record of six wins in the Principality, on Wednesday.

Schumacher is then scheduled to play football for the F1 drivers' squad against a team captained by Prince Albert of Monaco.
