For the first time in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the most environmentally friendly sportscar was awarded this prize. Deciding factors were, in this case, the fuel consumption during the race in relation to the vehicle’s weight and average speed and also the lowest possible engine noise. Thanks to the ground breaking TFSI technology, the three Audi R8 prototypes which competed at Le Mans this year, impressively occupied the first three positions of the new classification.

DTM: Audi "works” driver Mattias Ekström was awarded the "Fairness” prize by the specialist magazine, "sport auto", and the technical service organisation DEKRA at a gala held at the Essen Motor Show. For the inaugural prize, a panel of experts including double World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl, paid tribute to both Ekström and his rival Paffett in their fair fight for the 2005 DTM title. Max Mosley, President of the FIA, congratulated the winners via video.

Le Mans/DTM: This coming Saturday at the ‘Stade de France’ in Paris, the 18th running of the "Race of Champions” takes place, where stars from the world of Formula 1, World Rally Championship, DTM and other motorsport categories compete against one another in identical cars. Among the drivers are the two Audi "factory” drivers Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and Mattias Ekström (Sweden), who form "Team Scandinavia”. Last year, 62,333 spectators attended the "Race of Champions”. Eurosport broadcasts the race live from Paris on Saturday between 6 and 9 p.m.

DTM: Audi factory driver Mattias Ekström proved that he can also control model cars precisely on the limit by winning the Slot Car Grand Prix Essen. At the wheel of a faithful 1:24 scale Lamborghini Gallardo replica, he beat rising German star Sebastian Vettel around the near 90 metre long Carrera track belonging to the Automobilclub von Deutschland (AvD) and the specialist magazine "AutoBild motorsport”. ALMS Champion Frank Biela finished third in the 28-car field with another Gallardo.
